Alejandro Valverde defends title at UCI Gravel World Series La Indomable
43 year old Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) took another dominant solo win at La Indomable, part of the UCI Gravel Series. It comes after breaking his collarbone in a training incident in January

La Indomable is a new Gravel event on the south side of the famous Sierra Nevada mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea, more specifically in the Sierra de Gador region, a challenging region famous for all offroad disciplines. La Indomable started in Berja in the city center with stunning views over the southern Sierra Nevada, Calar Alto and the Mediterranean Sea. The course is challenging with more than 2,800m of climbing on the 96km Gravel Fondo route.
The wx-World Tour Spanish rider continues to race for Movistar since his retirement two yers ago, now part of the Movistar Gravel Squad.
Valverde was the favorite to defend his title at La Indomable after winning the race in 2023.
Valverde has enjoyed a successful career in gravel so far, winning the UCI Gravel World Series La Indomable twice and winning the Hutchinson Ranxo Gravel race last year.
Mario Fernandez Martinez won the men’s 51km race in a time of 2h 11m 25s, with Silvia Hurtado Diaz 2h 42m 31s won the women's 51km race.
The Belgian Waffle Ride series has confirmed to us, that Valverde will be at the start line at the legendary Belgian Waffle Ride California, one of the toughest one day gravel races in North America that takes place next weekend on April 28th in the San Elijo Hills near San Marcos.
