Belgians Decker and Timperman win UCI Granfondo Vosges
The 2024 edition of the Granfondo Vosges, second French qualifier with start and finish in the ski-resort of La Bresse Hohneck saw again great battles on a difficult 171km course in the French Vosges region with 9 climbs. Over 2,160 riders took part.
Belgian Bjorn De Decker, 2017 World Champion in the discipline won the 171km alpine route with 3500m of climbing in 4:50:10, finishing exactly 1 minute ahead of French Thibaut Clement with Belgian Jeroen Vercammen as overall third, another minute later. Riders from Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands filled the top 10.
All women had to qualify on the shorter Medio Fondo 119km distance. Victory there was for Belgian Elke Timperman in a time of just below 4 hours. Her nearest opponents were French women Manon Moyse at 1m37 and Belgian Hanne Van Loock at 3m44. Top 10 female riders came from Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.
