Gorodetsky and Collins fastest at GFNY Pennsylvania-York
York hosted the second edition of GFNY Pennsylvania last weekend in perfect weather conditions.
The undulating race course was just 67.8 miles boasting an elevation gain of more than 6,053 feet.
The race started off at the York Expo Center, with a strong group of riders. It was at mile 8 when Flavio de Luna (Team GFNY) and defending GFNY York champion Ben Gorodetsky (NYC, USA) successfully got away.
Riders relished in the climbing, descending and fun of cycling along impressive nature like Gifford Pinchot State Park and its Pinchot Lake, along the winding Conewago Creek, along the base of Roundtop Mountain, past rocky ridges and through majestic forests and river valleys. York County is the foothills spanning from New York to Alabama, the hills turn into mountains to the west and coastal flat to the east.
Riders benfited from fully stocked aid stations and mechanical and SAG van support.
The chase group including GFNY Florida Sebring champ León Santamaría (Colombia) managed to close the gap after 50 miles. With only 15 miles to go, Santamaría, De Luna and Gorodetsky attacked.
In the three man sprint to the line, Ben Gorodetsky took the win in 3:03:53 ahead of Santamaría (Colombia) and De Luna (Team GFNY).
In the women's race, Erin Collins was fastest in a time of 3:30:00, ahead of Susan Haid (Team Solutions Cycling) 7 minutes behind in second place, with Aleksandra Maz (Solutions Cycling) 9 minutes behind in third place.
A finisher medal & post race meal for everyone back at back to the finish line at the York Expo Center.
