Robert Gesink to participate in the KARUKINKA Gravel Race in Chile
Robert Gesink, together with Jetse Bol and Dennis van Winden, will take part in a new four-day race on the island of Tierra del Fuego in Chile in December 2024.
Robert Gesink, who retired from his professional cycling career after the 2024 Vuelta a España, remains very active in the cycling world.
In December, he will participate in the KARUKINKA Gravel Race, a new four-day race on the island of Tierra del Fuego in Chile, together with Jetse Bol and Dennis van Winden.
The race, which takes place from 4 to 7 December 2024, is touted as 'the southernmost gravel race in the world'.
Participants will cover 440 kilometers and climb more than 5,500 meters over 4 stages, with overnight stays in tents, in a backpacking style.
Robert Gesink is a retired Dutch professional cyclist, who rode lastly for Team Visma–Lease a Bike. His major victories include the 2012 Tour of California, the 2011 Tour of Oman and the 2010 Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal. Gesink also won the Giro dell'Emilia twice and acheived exceptional performances at Grand Tours and one-week stage races, thanks in part to his climbing and time trialing abilities.
Gesink has transitioned to a life enjoying riding his bike with friends and travelling!
KARUKINKA GRAVEL RACE, is an experience designed to enjoy the roads, landscapes and camaraderie of a competition designed to totally disconnect between your passion and nature. The race is organized by MTB Patagonia who have more than 15 years of experience in sporting events in the extreme south of Chile.
