UCI Gravel World Series to expand to an incredible 33 events in 2025

The UCI Gravel World Series, a leading series of international gravel events, will expand significantly in 2025 with the addition of 15 new races

This will bring the total number of events to 33. The concept of the series remains the same, allowing riders to qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships by finishing in the top 25% of their category at one of the qualifying events.

The qualifying season began shortly after the conclusion of the successful 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships, held in Flanders, Belgium, on 5-6 October, with the UEC European Gravel Championships one week later in Asiago, Italy. The first event on the 2025 calendar is the Castellon Gravel Race, a new event organised in Llucena, Castellon, in Spain, in February. Additionally, the calendar also welcomes Gravel Brasil, the first South American qualifier, to the series in early March in Camboriu.

Turnhout Gravel, which hosted the 2024 Belgian Championships with nearly 2,000 riders, will now feature a qualifier event on a flat course in March. The 114 Gravel Race, a new event spanning Portugal and Spain, will serve as another qualifying opportunity one week later. Monaco Gravel Race will take place near the principality on 20 April on a course in the middle range mountains of the Parc du Mercantour.

The organisers of the Canadian round of the series have decided to relocate their event to the existing Paris to Ancaster event in Ontario, which is scheduled for late April. The event attracts over 3,000 riders each year. In South Africa, the Ceder in Cederberg Oasis, a demanding race with 2,400 meters of elevation and 90% gravel roads, will kick off the month of May.

The Devils Cardigan on the Australian island of Tasmania, which hosted the 2024 Australian Championships, will join the 2025 UCI Gravel World Series. This means there are now three qualifying events in Australia, host country of the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships, to be held in Nannup. Eislek Gravel Luxembourg, a new event scheduled for June 21, will feature two different local laps, with the longer loop passing through Germany.

Khomas100, which serves as the Namibian Gravel Championships, will return as a qualifier event in late August. The course will feature a different start and finish location. Three weeks later, Mammoth TUFF, a challenging gravel event in the Mammoth Lakes ski area of California, will serve as a second US qualifier. The same day, 66 Degrés Sud – Pyrenées Catalanes Gravel Tour will take place. This event is the offroad edition of the successful Granfondo which is held in the French Pyrenees each April.

At the end of October, Legacy Gravel will be held in the host region of the 2024 UCI World Championships, as first qualifier event for the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships. It will be followed by Gravelista in Australia and Dustman, a new Asian event in Thailand, located in the beautiful gravel paradise of Kanchanaburi near Bangkok.

In addition to these 15 new events, the existing events in Australia, Austria, Italy, the USA, the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Poland, Denmark, Kenya, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium and Spain have become classics, with the largest events attracting over 2,200 riders in 2024.
