Gorge Gravel Festival Weekend will Kickstart Oregon Gravel Series

Three superb distances for all abilities, pace groups and prizes will let you enjoy Oregon’s Gorge and Cascade Mountain Peaks on April 27, 2025

Gorge Gravel Festival Weekend will Kickstart Oregon Gravel Series

Gorge Gravel is a great season opener to test your fitness coming out of the winter.

It offers challenging competition for racers and a supportive and inclusive ride for gravel converts, with an innovative gravel pace group program, where newer riders can RSVP to ride with experienced guides to achieve their ride goals.

With beautiful views, pure gravel community, and a pre and post-ride celebration based in Oregon's gem of rural gravel, Dufur -- this is a must add ride to your Bucket List.

The courses offer great views of the Gorge and surrounding Cascade Mountain peaks with well packed, smooth and fast gravel roads. There is a mix of pavement and gravel for each ride distance.

Temperatures hit mid 60’s in late April with a glimpse of the warmth of summer and the smell of spring in the air.

The course is ideal with no double digit gradients, just a lot of fast rolling hills through Eastern Oregon’s wheat country, for you to work on your form and admire the spectacular views.

Three Distances

Looking for a fun ride that does not put you in the hurt locker? Then give the 45-mile Small Grinder with 3,500 feet of climbing a try. It gives you a taste for gravel and rewards you with amazing scenery.

Not ready for the Big Grinder and still want a challenge? The Medium Grinder at 67 Miles and nearly 6,000 feet of climbing is your ticket.

Ready to go long, climb high, and take on a physical and mental challenge? With 93 miles and nearly 8,300 feet of elevation to push you to your limit, the Big Grinder is for you!

Gorge Gravel is a great season opener to test your fitness coming out of the winter.

Pace Groups

Six pace groups will be available for all rider levels, with four groups for the Small Gravel and two for the Medium Gravel. Each group will be headed by an experienced Ride Leader, organizing and keeping the pace, while hand-picked Ambassadors will be within the pack cheering riders on and celebrating with every accomplishment.

Ride Leaders and Ambassadors will offer guidance, course knowledge, and be able to support the pace group throughout the course. You can select for your desired pace group during registration.

Aid Stations and Support

Well-stocked Aid Stations are located every 20 miles along the course. Mt. View Cycles will be at the start and on course with tubes, tires, tire pump and assistance.

Aid stations will be filled with GU products, bananas, peanut butter, granola bars, and other great snacks as well as the innovative Breakaway Hydration Trailer for the fastest water fills possible.

Well-stocked Aid Stations are located every 20 miles along the course.

Accommodation and Camping

Cousins Country Inn has been a tremendous supporter of the Gorge Gravel for the past 10 years.  They are the best bang for your lodging buck in the Gorge!  Gorge Gravel participants will receive the special rate of $109 plus tax for any classic room or $139 plus tax for a Barn room.

They have already sold completely out of the in-park RV and Car/Truck/Van camping this year, however there are other options available.  You may also get on the waitlist for an in-park spot.

Still available:  Barlow Field has spots for approximately 30 overflow Car/Truck/Van campers. Barlow field is approximately 1/2 mile from the race start.

Tent camping is located at Dufur City Park. Park has acres of lawn to pitch your tent and heated bathrooms and showers onsite. The Gorge Gravel Grinder will start in the park in the middle of the camping area. Only one vehicle per tent site and maximum of 4 people per tent site.

They've planned all of your Saturday pre-race celebration with shake-out rides, packet pickup,  fun games, music, Castelli Cornhole Tournament, Fat Tire Beer Bar, and BBQ supporting the local community of Dufur through the Ranger Pride Foundation.

The Gorge Gravel Grinder will start in the park in the middle of the camping area.
