Registration open for the 6th edition of BWR Utah
Cycling enthusiasts, it's time to gear up! Registration is open for the highly anticipated 6th Edition of the Belgian Waffle Ride (BWR) Utah, taking place in Cedar City this May 23 - 24, 2025
Known as "The Hell of the Southwest" this event promises a unique and exhilarating experience as riders tackle a challenging unroad course featuring gravel, sand, and rock terrains at altitude.
The Cedar City event marks the sixth iteration of this thrilling race, which is part of the Belgian Waffle Ride Quad-Tripel Crown of Gravel Series. This year, participants can expect a fresh course that emphasizes dynamic riding without overwhelming single-track sectors. Instead, riders will enjoy a 'rippable' route that showcases the stunning landscapes of Cedar City, known for its warm hospitality and support of the cycling community.
“Cedar City has always rolled out the red, yellow, and black carpet for us,” said Michael Marckx Founder of Monuments of Cycling. “We’re excited to combine the essence of cycling with the flavors of Belgium, including our signature waffles and local beers. This event is not just a race; it’s a celebration of cycling.”
Riders can choose from three routes tailored for all abilities: the 40 mile Wanna, 70 mile Wafer and 100+ mile Waffle.
The Waffle distance is to be a tune-up race for Unbound Gravel later on in May (31st).
The Waffle course features an impressive 100+ mile distance, punctuated by approximately nine road sectors and a manageable elevation gain of around 7,500 feet. This contrasts sharply with the more intense California event, which includes 100+ miles of road and dirt with 11,000 feet of climbing.
Participants can expect a variety of terrains, including gravel, sand, double-track, and water crossings, all designed to challenge and thrill. Each turn will be clearly marked, and feed zones will be strategically placed every 20 miles, stocked with snacks, drinks, and, of course, those beloved Belgian waffles. Volunteers will be on hand to provide encouragement and refreshments, ensuring that every rider feels supported throughout the race.
Leading up to the event, riders will receive crucial race information via email, including course details and exclusive offers from BWR partners. Each email will also provide options for riders to switch to the Wafer or Wanna categories or even volunteer if they're feeling uncertain about racing.
All participants will receive a Feed musette swag bag filled with essential BWR goodies, along with a race number and RFID tag for official timing. Additional perks include access to pre-race waffles and coffee, a beer ticket, post-race refreshments, and a Trophy Beer for finishers.
Merchandise, including t-shirts and other gear, will be available at registration and the merchandise booth at each venue.
Last winner's include Peter Stetina (Canyon Waffeleurs & Ale Drinkeurs) and Sophia Gomez Villafañe (Specialized Off Road).
