Tadej Pogacar set to Defend Title at 2025 Strade Bianche

Reigning champion Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates will return to the iconic Tuscan race, aiming to defend his title against a field of elite cyclists on the challenging white gravel roads that have become synonymous with this prestigious event.

The Strade Bianche, often hailed as cycling's Sixth Monument, has carved a niche for itself since its inception in 2007. The race showcases the stunning landscapes of Tuscany, with its signature white gravel roads that challenge even the most seasoned riders. The men's competition will cover a grueling 213 kilometers, with over 80 kilometers of the route consisting of 16 sections of the infamous white gravel. Competitors will face a total ascent of 3,716 meters, testing their endurance and tactical prowess.

In parallel, the women's race, now in its 11th edition as the Strade Bianche Rosa, will feature a 138-kilometer course, with 13 gravel sectors totaling 50.3 kilometers. Both races promise to deliver a thrilling spectacle, as athletes navigate the twisty, undulating terrain that defines the event.

"The Strade Bianche is a true test of a cyclist's skill and determination," said Pogacar. "The combination of gravel and climbs creates a unique challenge that I relish. Defending my title will be no easy feat, but I am ready to give it my all on the roads of Tuscany."

The race's challenging parcours has attracted a diverse range of competitors, from puncheurs to cobbled classics specialists, and even cyclo-cross and former mountain bike riders. The unpredictable nature of the course allows for a wide array of tactics, making it a favorite among both riders and fans alike.

As the cyclists prepare for the showdown in March 2025, the anticipation builds for what promises to be another unforgettable chapter in the Strade Bianche's storied history. The event is expected to attract thousands of spectators, eager to witness the grit and determination of their favorite athletes as they tackle one of the most challenging races on the WorldTour calendar.
