The Ride Accross England! Seascale to Whitby in a day!

Limited to 300 riders, we expect the 3rd year of this great event to SELL OUT!

2027 will be Velo29’s 3rd C2C, 2025 and 2026 have been amazing! The challenge, the support, the route, the new friends….you all had a wonderful ride. Your feedback about the entire day was glowing and so many of you told us you’d be back!

The C2C is an iconic challenge, there are several flavours of this challenge but for Velo29’s version, it’s an early start in The West, following mostly the established route heading East with our brilliant route signage, 4 feed stations along the way (well stocked as always!) and get to Whitby in the East by 22:00 latest.

The route is a varied one, with The Cumbrian Climbs of Hardknot and Wrynose with their 33% slopes and sharp turns (up and down!) some tough climbing in The Yorkshire Dales but then flatter roads around The Vale of York but then a tough finish in the Yorkshire Moors as we head towards Whitby.

The riding to Feed Stop1 at Crook Memorial Hall is the toughest part of the 150 miles, Seascale already feels a long way behind! Crook is a breakfast stop, which you’ll be ready for!

Feed 1 to Feed 2 at Hawes is not easy, no significant hills but undulating all the way, our famous Full Fat Feed at Hawes. Almost half way already!

Feed 2 to feed 3 starts lumpy but soon becomes flat, The Yorkshire Moors are visible with about 100km to go! We apprach Feed 3 at East Cowton on flat, twisting Yorkshire Lanes, if the wind is kind we make up some speed. Feed 3 is a hot pasta meal, which is always very welcome!

Feed 3 to 4 is again quite flat, lovely roads, not many cars, usually spirits are high on this section! Feed 4 is sweet and savoury snacks, a sandwich and some caffine!

Feed 4 to Whitby is a cruel but enjoyable finish. The climbs of Esk Valley come thick and fast! Kildale, Commondale, Castleton, Danby and finally Limber Hill! 30% switch backs with 15km to go!

Howerver……with 8km to go Whitby is in sight! We are downhill all the way to the finish line where an amazing medal awaits!

You all say it’s one of the best days of the year and some of the best riding you’ll ever do! 6am at Seascale seems forever in the past! Grab a picture by the North Sea and get on the 19:00 return bus or drag yourself off to a Hotel and rest!

We suggest booking hotels and bus return soon. Seascale has limited accomodation so best to get in early. Whitby can be busy in the summer and fills up.
