Everesting is a brutally simple concept – cycle repeat climbs of one hill in a single activity totalling at least 8,848m of elevation and join the elite group of riders accredited by Hells500 – holders of the Everesting Hall of Fame.

A dedicated and inventive cyclist Chris Gambs (co-lead Cycling Friends UK Facebook group) came up with the concept of claiming the record for the most riders completing an Everest in one event. Norway holds the record at 54.

June 4th 2023, 77 riders took to the start line, it was an amazing day with some epic and heroic battles on Peaslows. However, we didn’t make it, 45 riders completed an Everest. 10 short of the record.

9th June 2024 we were back on Peaslows in brutally wet conditions but with a strong wind blowing UP the hill! 86 riders took to the line and battled on in tough conditions. All day we were right in the balance of taking the record but around 18:00 it became apparetn that we’d be at least 2 riders short! So close yet so far!

The event isn’t just about the record, it’s very much a personal achievment too. Almost everyone who took part climbed more vert than previously.

It’s a commuity event with some amazing stories and support at the road side. There is no better way to get your Everest or just take on an amzing challenge.

If anyone is up for the ultimate challenge then battle on for an amazing 10,000m!

If we get 55 or more riders to complete an Everest then we will set a World Record recognised by Hells500!

Base Camp of 34 ascents, Everest at 67 or 10,000m at 76 laps!

Each lap is 2.6km so a Full Everest = 174.2km
