The two-time RBC champion, Phil Gaimon will be leading the 70-mile route before receiving his 2025 Legend Award from the organizing committee.

The 2025 Redlands Bicycle Classic will feature the first Legends’ Fondo with four routes for recreation riders of all abilities on Saturday, April 12th starting at 8:00 am. The crown jewel of this year’s event will be the Oak Glen Challenge, a 70-mile ride with 5700 ft of climbing that will touch on several Redlands Classic courses, past and present. Beginning at the official RBC START / FINISH line for 40 Years, the route will cover the first five turns of the criterium course before heading out to explore Classic history. Riders will pass through the start line of Thursday’s Onyx Road Race and then climb to Sunset Drive, which has been part of the Classic since its inception in 1985. After descending Wabash Avenue, part of the former time trial course, there will be a climb up Walnut Street and Overcrest Drive. This portion of the ride will have been ridden by the pros one day earlier as part of the new Crafton Hills Road Race course. Finally, riders will traverse the streets of Yucaipa before heading to Oak Glen, where many former champions made their mark, including Tour de France Stage winner Sepp Kuss, who won the Oak Glen stage in 2015.

For those who aren’t feeling “legendary,” don’t worry, there is a bailout at mile 38, just before heading up to Oak Glen, which will make the loop a 50-mile ride. In taking the left turn, riders will enjoy the final 12 miles of the 70-mile course, cutting out the Oak Glen climb, but still crediting 3000 feet of climbing for the day. Those last 12 miles include Sand Canyon, a descent used during three different Classic routes, including the 2004 Olympic qualifier hosted by RBC.

For those who prefer something flatter, there are three recreational rides of varying distances, all starting at the Redlands Bicycle Classic’s START / FINISH Line in downtown Redlands.

There are a metric century (2150 feet of climbing) and a 41-mile route (1520 feet of climbing) that leave the start line and make the 150-degree right onto Olive Avenue, following a portion of the pro criterium route.  The first two miles of the ride will have a rolling closure before venturing out of town and towards Loma Linda, past the new Loma Linda University Medical Center, and on to Grand Terrace and Riverside. Riders will roll along the scenic Prince Albert Drive, Victoria Avenue, and through the historic Woods District of Riverside, a favorite for local cyclists. The first stop will be at Officer Ryan Bonaminio Park, a local sports facility named after a fallen Riverside Police Officer, located at the base of Mount Rubidoux, a former RBC time trial venue.

While the 41-mile route turns back to Redlands, the metric century will continue south to Riverside’s Arlington Heights district, along Dufferin Avenue and past the California Citrus State Historic Park, towards the La Sierra District and Riverwalk Parkway, bordered by scenic ponds and streams. The route turns back toward Officer Ryan Bonaminio Park for a second rest stop.

Riders on either route return to Redlands while enjoying the views of the valley from Grand Terrace Road and ultimately to Texas and Center Streets before the final turn to the iconic RBC Finish Line.

Finally, a 22-mile family friendly route will follow the warmup segment of the Oak Glen route through the warehouse district, along Pioneer Avenue and Riverview Drive, overlooking the Santa Ana River and offering unobstructed views of the San Bernardino Mountains. After crossing the start line for the Onyx Summit Road Race near the Redlands Municipal Airport, riders will make their way to Crafton Park for a rest stop. They will continue through the University of Redlands District, along Texas Street past the ESRI Campus, before embarking on the final leg, rolling down historic Brookside Avenue to the finish line at Citrus Avenue and Orange Street.

Your registration includes access to the rest stop food and vehicle support. At the end of the ride, you will receive a $10 voucher for the Redlands Bicycle Classic Vendor Village which has great food, local craft beer, souvenirs and activities, not to mention all the bicycle races! You will also receive a finisher’s medal and be able to use the complimentary bicycle valet to secure storage while enjoying the Vendor Village.

Event includes food and drink stops, vehicle support, complimentary bicycle valet, finisher’s medal, a $10 voucher to use at the RBC Vendor Village which features food, local craft beer, souvenirs a view of the Pro men and women’s criteriums.
