Distances: 50, 70, and 100 miles
Difficulty: Moderate terrain with rolling short steep hills or moderate, sustained climbs

The ride weaves its way through Western Washington’s Snoqualmie Valley. This fertile valley is home to many organic farms producing some of the area’s highest quality produce, meats, and cheeses. Spend your day rolling from the valley floor to the ridges that define this beautiful place, a peaceful getaway not far from the city. The route includes beautiful rural riding, scenic views, well-stocked rest stops, and plenty of climbing to get you in shape for the rest of your summer riding season. The ride starts and finishes in King County's Marymoor Park in Redmond.

This event is a fundraiser for Cascade Bicycle Club's programming in advocacy, education, and community rides, such as the Major Taylor Project, Let's Go, Your Streets Your Say, and Pedaling Relief Project.

Routes

Each route takes you through rural scenery and great rest stops. Those that want hills should ride the 45-, 65- and 100-mile loops. Riders not interested in hill challenges can opt for the 25-mile loop, which has only a couple of gentle climbs.

The course closes at 4:30 p.m., so remember to give yourself enough time to complete the route you choose.

25-mile loop: Route takes you clockwise around Lake Sammamish and through Bellevue with a few rolling hills and no major climbs. Great for younger riders, beginners and families.

45-mile loop: Ride from Redmond to Carnation to Fall City to Issaquah and back to Redmond - three climbs of between one mile and three miles in length. This is a perfect training route for two-day Group Health STP riders.

65-mile loop: Take the 45-mile route; at 18.0 miles**, turn left and head out to Duvall and back for one more challenging one-mile climb.  Completed at a good pace this is adequate for one-day STP riders.

100-mile loop: Take the 65-mile route; at the 30.9 mile mark**, turn right and add a ride through Snohomish and Monroe for a total of five good climbs and some second half STP "rollers". Finish this route and you'll know you're ready to enjoy the Group Health STP in one day!

(**note:  in deciding whether to do a longer loop, keep in mind that the last hill ~17 miles from the finish is ~3 miles in length at 7-9% -- as the British would say, "You have been warned.")

The Flying Wheels route has an estimated 3,840 cumulative feet of elevation gain. This is an estimate; your readings may be different.
