On May 18, 2024 the Clifton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 12th Annual Bosque Tour de Norway. Last year, in our eleventh year of the event, we had to cancel the ride due to a 2-year TXDOT project on several roads we have used in the past. Two years ago, the ride brought in over 650 riders from around the state to enjoy a bicycle ride through the beautiful hills of Bosque County and to view a little piece of Norwegian history. Riding past the Norse Settlement where the “Father of Norwegian Migration” Cleng Peerson brought his last Norwegian group to settle, and where he lived until his death.

This year we have created several new routes. There are five different distances for riders to choose from, 16 miles, 37 miles, 45 miles, 55 miles and the big one at 72 miles.

Along the routes rest stops are positioned at 10-mile intervals, where riders may stop for food, beverages, shade, rest, and bathroom breaks. Local volunteers are on hand at each stop to answer questions and help serve riders along their journey. “SAG Wagons” (Support And Gear vehicles) are also manned by local enthusiasts and available to riders along the courses throughout the event. These volunteers are fantastic ambassadors for Clifton and Bosque County.

The remainder of the day allows riders to explore Clifton further, taking in the sights, shops, and tastes. You work up a hunger and a thirst after a ride like that! As hosts of the Bosque Tour de Norway, the Clifton Chamber of Commerce invites you to join us for a lovely Spring Day of cycling and friendship. Whether you choose to participate as a rider or extend your services as a volunteer, the day is certain to be filled with fun and beauty!
