The Daffodils Sportive, named after the World famous Farndale Daffodils was a new event in 2013. We wanted to add a new Sportive to the Velo29 Calendar which incorporated some of our favourite roads, had a challenge for all abilities without being too hard (it is still April after all) and like the other Velo29 events, focused around a famous North East land mark.

The Daffodils is exactly that and the routes are stunning!

All 3 distances leave Thirsk under the supervision of NEG Escort Motorcycles and head straight onto quiet country lanes, small Villages and some beautiful North Yorkshire scenery.

We had always have over 500 riders in the event. The routes are not super challenging so lots of the groups will stay together. A great way to meet new cycling friends and ride in Pelotons rather than alone.

As always we’ve found some really interesting roads, around Farndale there will be routes not even the most regular rider know well. The Long route offers the most serious challenge and Blakey Bank will not disappoint those looking for a test!

It’s a lovely ride which you all really enjoyed last year with well positioned feeds, quiet roads and of course the great Velo29 signage so you can’t get lost!
