What goes up must come down!
After 13 years of broadly the same routes, and 15 years after the first Little Lumpy Sportive, we thought it time to try some different routes, as well as adding an additional route. The new route is called Ultra 200, which includes an additional loop within the Epic route, and at 202 km (125 miles) with 2,800m (9,190ft) is not for the faint-hearted.

The Start/Finish remains at Woolmer Hill, with all riders (Sport, Challenge, Epic & Ultra) taking the existing route to South Harting and the first feed station. The Challenge, Epic and Ultra having the option to refuel there or carry on to Chalton feed station. From South Harting, the route has changed to head anticlockwise along the B2146, through Nursted to Buriton and over The Downs through Queen Elizabeth Forest

Little Lumpy - Four courses in one.

Sport

40 miles (64.8km) with 3,170ft (966m) of climbing and two feed-stops at South Harting and Lurgashall. Avoids the South Downs but still has a testing climb towards the end.

At South Harting you will wave goodbye to your madder colleagues doing the Challenge, Epic and Ultra routes as they head off to the first of several climbs over the South Downs. Your route will take you back through the pretty villages of Elsted, Cocking, Lodsworth and Lurgashall, with a testing climb at Blackdown, before finishing at the top of Woolmer Hill

Challenge

63 miles (103km) with 4,600ft (1,413m) of climbing, over the South Downs four times and with three feed-stops.

The Challenge follows the same route as the Sport to South Harting, where there is a feed-stop if required. From there the route heads west to Buriton, over the Downs to Chalton (feed-stop) and then down to Rowlands Castle, before heading north to cross the Downs to South Harting (feed-stop) and returning as for the Sport.

Epic

107 miles (172km) with 7,519ft (2,293m) of climbing, five ascents of the South Downs and five feed-stops.

Follows the Challenge route to South Harting, Buriton, Chalton (feed-stop) and Rowlands Castle. Instead of returning to South Harting the Epic route continues east, skirting Chichester, Goodwood Airfield and crossing the A27 (by cycle bridge) at Tangmere and recrossing at Fontwell (by cycle underpass) to the feed-stop at Slindon. After that an ascent of the Downs, past The Pig, to Whiteways, down to Houghton and Bury and then turning west underneath the Downs, through Bignor and Sutton before another ascent of the Downs on the A285, and another climb up to Goodwood racecourse, back down to West Dean and then returning to South Harting with a steady climb. Return to Haslemere as for the Sport and Challenge.

Ultra

125 miles (202km) with 9,190ft (2,803m) of climbing, seven ascents of the South Downs and six feed-stops.

This is a new additional route for those who want to push themselves just that bit more. The route is exactly the same as the Epic, but with an additional loop from Upwaltham back to Slindon (feed-stop), Houghton, Bury, Bignor and Duncton Hill again.

The Ultra is to be limited to 100 riders and you must start by 7.30am.
