The Dolomite Cycling Tour (Dolomitenradrundfahrt) leads you trough the most beautiful landscapes in the alps. The small romantic villages, the fascinating tops of the Dolomites,  the sound of the traditional bands along the track and the enthusiasm of the audience are an unique experience which you only can enjoy in Osttirol.

No matter you are a professional or hobbyrider, everybody will be cheered during the race and celebrated as a winner at the finish in the center of Lienz. You will be deeply impressed – come to ride  the 112km and 1870m altitude through the wonderful Dolomites!

The history of the Dolomites Cycling Tour dates back over a few decades, making it one of the oldest cycle racing events still taking place today. The classic circuit around the romantic Lienz Dolomites first took place in 1950. At that time, there was a Schlauch- und Wullstreifenklasse. The first winner was Josef Stubenvoll of Salzburg with celebrations taking place in the main square in Lienz. Since then, this town in the Dolomites has made a great deal of progress when it comes to cycling as a sport. Not only has the Tour of Austria been taking place in Osttirol for 60 years along with several stages of the ‘Giro d`Italia’ and ‘Giro del Trentino’, developments in the tourist offering have taken place too. During the summer months, up to 4000 cyclists each day use the Drauradweg cycle path between Innichen and Lienz.

This development has also been fuelled by the introduction of the new Dolomites Cycling Tour in 1987.  Since then, the event has been taking place on the second Sunday in June as a tourist event.
