Join us for our first charity bike event on the Primland property. Challenging 14, 33, 52 and 75 mile routes are available with great support and a post-ride meal and performance awards. All proceeds benefit local EMS services.

The Big Ivy Gran Fondo at Primland is a charity road bike ride for all levels of cyclists. For 2018 we will feature (4) different route lengths. All routes will enjoy stocked aid stations, SAG support during the ride, a well marked course, and Finisher Medals and Farm-to-Feet wool socks for all participants; as well as a gourmet meal after the ride! Additionally, there will be electronic chip timing for the KOM/QOM segments on the Medio and Gran routes. During the post ride meal, there will be an awards ceremony for the KOM/QOM winners for each age category.

The Ride for all categories begins at 8:00am at the Stables Saloon off of Busted Rock Road inside the Primland Resort property. All riders will begin the ride with a neutral start for 2 miles to the Lodge at Primland. The ride will then officially start and head towards the North Gate following a pace car.

Once to the North Gate, riders will get to the first stocked Aid Station (mile 8). At this point the Piccolo Route riders will return to the Stables Saloon to complete their 13 mile scenic ride. Gran, Medio, and Big Ivy Classic riders will leave Primland property and head out onto the Big Ivy Loop that features beautiful country roads through Patrick County around Meadows of Dan, Virginia.

At Mile 18.5, riders will enjoy the 2nd fully stocked Aid Station in Meadows of Dan, Virginia. At this point, the Big Ivy Classic riders will turn left and enjoy finishing the amazing Big Ivy Loop, and then head back through Aid Station 1 at the North Gate entrance to Primland Resort. From here the Big Ivy Classic riders will ride to the finish at the Stables Saloon where a post-ride meal awaits.

The Gran and Medio riders will turn right after Aid Station 2 and go through the town of Meadows of Dan, and turn left onto Squirrel Spur Road. This winding mountain road rolls along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains for a few miles, and then begins and exciting 5 mile descent off of the plateau. At the bottom of the mountain, riders will then come to Aid Station 3 at mile 32.5.

Just past Aid Station 3; Medio riders will go straight to enjoy a 13.5 mile roll through the foothills below Primland. Medio riders will then go through the South Gate of Primland and hit their 4th Aid Station, before the beginning of the KOM climb back to the finish.

Gran Fondo riders will turn right after Aid Station 3, and head out on a blissful 37 mile ride through the rolling foothills below Primland, and enjoy one additional Aid Station at around mile 58. Gran Fondo riders will then come through the South Gate and back into Primland Resort and hit their 5th Aid station.

After the South Gate Aid Station, all Gran and Medio riders will start the chip timed King/Queen of the Mountain climb up an amazing paved private road with glorious views of the valley below. This climb is about 5 miles in length and gains 1500 vertical feet. The finish at the Stables saloon is a short mile away from the top of this timed climb.

At the Finish at the Stables Saloon, all riders will enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by Primland's talented chefs. There will be a variety of beverages available; and desserts. Riders can purchase additional meal tickets for family and friends who are attending the finish.

All riders will recieve finisher medals for their route, and a pair of wool Farm-to-Feet socks. At the meal there will be awards for the KOM prizes for the fastest riders up the mountain in several categories, for both Male and Female riders.

We hope to see you at the First Annual Big Ivy Gran Fondo at Primland! Special pricing is available for partcipants on Lodging, Golf, the Spa, and other activities. Bring the Family and enjoy a weekend of fun in the mountians!
