Distances: 625 km
Difficulty: Moderate terrain with rolling short steep hills or moderate, sustained climbs

With the HanseGravel, you embark on a bikepacking adventure trip in self-service mode. In the footsteps of the Hanseatic League you follow the Hanseatenweg from Hamburg to Szczecin. The path is based on the course of old trade routes and should both recall the importance of the Hanseatic League and contribute to European understanding among nations.

You can expect a 625 km Gravel adventure in a class of its own. Follow the cog and enjoy the freedom.

The HanseGravel is not a race and not a commercial event. It's just a  meeting of like-minded friends riding their bicycles on the same route at the same time to challenge their personal limits. Sharing experiences and experiencing the satisfaction of mastering the challenge and moving beyond the normal limits of everyday life.

The participation is free, it is rather a donation to the association NaturFreunde Deutschlands eV asked, from which we have got the inspiration for this trip.

The rules are simple, everyone is self-responsible and follows the typical code for such a self-catering trip.

Joint start:  in Hamburg / museum harbor Oevelgönneis scheduled for April 25, 2019 at 10 o'clock. We will drive out of town for the first few kilometers as a group to get through traffic safer. There will be a final GPS track, which we will provide you with in time. The route was completely lost by us. You will need a GPS device to follow the track, even if the cog will accompany you! We are still not sure if we offer a live tracking, here we are dependent on your feedback and will query this when registering. There will be at least 1 ferry! The HanseGravel is the perfect introduction to the bikepacking adventure, offering the experienced participants enough excitement to make it unforgettable.

Arrival and departure:

From Hamburg main station it is about 7 kilometers to the common starting point. The track will end at the main station in Szczecin, from 6:00 to 21:00 the trains run every hour to Berlin (duration approx. 2 hours) and from 7 to 17 hours back to Hamburg (duration approx. 6 hours).

VELO Berlin:

There will also be a connection track that will take you with your bike directly to the VELO in Berlin . The VELO Berlin take place from 27.04. until 28.04. instead, here you can end his cycling adventure in peace.

Take your time, have fun and enjoy your adventure!
