Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

GranFondo Rio de Janeiro is an official and qualifying round of the World Amateur Cycling Championship. Created and organized by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), it will be played at Serra do Piloto in Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro.

The race will have about 120 kilometers, 2 thousand meters of cumulative ascent.

Starting from the Mangaratiba Exhibition Park, the race will take place at Serra do Piloto, located north of the municipality of Mangaratiba, on the Green Coast of Rio de Janeiro State.

The region was chosen for the beauty, the climate, the magnificent facilities of the resort, and the topography of the mountains, with its descents and climbs, which will make the event a unique event in Brazil.

Of historical importance, the race course will take place along the old Imperial Road, the first highway in Brazil, dating from 1856, where old buildings with simple architectural lines, typical of the colonial period and some ruins still emerge. The road offers a breathtaking view of Mangaratiba Bay, and is permeated by waterfalls such as the Slave and Conceição de Jacareí waterfalls.
