Add to My Favourites
GFNY Villard de Lans travels through the heart of the magnificent Vercors Natural Regional Park. Be ready to have your breath taken away by the stunning roads cut out of the cliffside, the imposing limestone escarpments, deep gorges, green valleys, mountain pastures and sweeping landscapes.

After a short, neutralized descent from Balcon de Villard Cote 2000 and a few hilly kilometers, you will take on the first climb of the day, Col de la Croix Perrin, with a summit at 1218m.

From km 30, race on a flatter but not less challenging profile through the Gorges de la Bourne, with its impressive viewpoints and along its road carved in the rock.

From there, it's about 50 km of ascending profile until km 85 and the small ski resort of Font d'Urle and its 1500m which will be the highest point of this course.

Enjoy the next 25 km of descents on the most beautiful road of the Vercors, in direction of the Col de la Machine. Famous for its layout being carved right into the cliff, the Combe Laval road weaves its way through a grandiose circus, a titanic gash 4 km deep that dominates the Royannais country.

There are countless tunnels through the rocks, peaks, viewpoints and dizzying lookouts, so take advantage of the view and recharge your batteries before the finale. Over the final 40 km, you will cross a multitude of small tunnels cut in the rock in the direction of the demanding pass of Herbouilly and its summit at km 144.

Only 13 km remain for this final climb to Villard de Lans and its arrival which has seen several times a Tour de France arrival and prestigious victories such as that of Laurent Fignon or more recently in 2020 which saw the victory of a young German in solo.

The course will be challenging but the sight of the mythical and indescribable landscapes of the Vercors will make up for the challenges of this race course.
